Best Practices

Lesson and Slide Titles

Each lesson and activity slide you create will have two titles:

  • an "admin title" that shows up to content creators on the site
  • a "visible title" name that shows up in the app.

Follow these naming conventions as you create your lessons and activity slides:

  1. Give your admin titles descriptive names that follow a set naming convention so that they are easily identifiable.
  2. Include your project name in these admin titles in case course admins need to identify them.
  3. One example of an activity slide name could BASA-IS-L14-5. (BASA Project, Image Select, Lesson 14, Activity 5.)

Uploading Files

Some slides require image and audio files to be uploaded. Follow these conventions for uploading these files.

  1. Make sure all audio and image files for a single activity have unique filenames.
  2. Make your filenames descriptive. (ex. p_target_sound.mp3)
  3. Make sure all filenames have no spaces. Use underscores instead.

Uploading Images

Some activities require uploading images that have dimensions within a specific range. Some activities require images to change from black-and-white to color. For these cases, two images of identical dimensions are uploaded — one black and white version, and one color version.

  1. Make sure you are uploading image files at the correct dimensions.
  2. For stimulus graphics, make sure that black & white and color graphics have different filenames.
